Getting mechanize to install in Ruby 1.8 on Ubuntu Karmic

Turns out this is a massive hassle.

These are the packages I needed

sudo apt-get install ruby1.8 rubygems ruby1.8-dev libxml2-dev libxslt-dev libopenssl-ruby

Then,

sudo gem install mechanize

Seems like it has rather more dependencies than it claims.

Because it depends on the excellent nokogiri :-) That explains all these dependencies.
